Grand Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Borujerdi (March 1875 – 30 March 1961) was an Iranian Shia Marjah and the leading Marjah in Iran from roughly 1947 to his death in 1961. For more than 15 years he was known as a highest-level Shia authority, a Grand Ayatollah with the authority to make legal decisions within the confines of Islamic law for followers and less-credentialed clerics. He was also the chairman of educating institution (sometimes called seminarians or Howzat) in theology, to prepare students for ordination as clergy.Grand Ayatollah Sayed Hossein Borujerdi put remarkable efforts on development of religious and cultural places and seminarians, libraries and publishing religious books. For instance, Azam mosque of Qom, Islamic Centre Hamburg, Jahangir Khan Religious School, Kermanshah Religious School, Najaf Ashraf school as well as multiple libraries in Kermanshah and Najaf were built during his life.In 12 February 1960, he ordered foundation of large public library in Azam mosque of Qom. The opening ceremony was officially held in 13 April 1961 by his son Mohammad Hossain Borujerdi, Ayatollah really tends to the public use of the library. The library was headed by Ayatollah Danesh Ashtiani.Ayatollah Sayed Javad Alavi Boroujerdi (his grandson), is responsible for Azaam Grand Mosque, library and other related centers to Grand Ayatollah Boroujerdi. Il était également le président de l''Ecole éducative de formations des mollahs (parfois appelée Séminaristes ou Hawzah) en théologie islamique, pour former les étudiants en tant que «Rohani» en Iran. Le Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Borudjerdi a fait des efforts remarquables pour développer les lieux religieux et culturels, ainsi que les écoles de séminaristes, les bibliothèques et la publication des livres religieux. Par exemple, on peut y citer la Grande mosquée Azaam de Qom, le Centre islamique d''Hambourg, l''école religieuse Jahangir Khan, plusieurs bibliothèques à Kermanshah et à Najad qui ont été construites et inaugurées sur son ordre durant sa vie. Le 12 février 1960, il a commandé la fondation d''une grande bibliothèque publique dans la Grande mosquée Azam de Qom, nommée la Bibliothèque ABMA de Qom (la Bibliothèque ABMA, c’est le sigle de la Bibliothèque «Ketabkhanyé» du Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Hossein Borudjerdi Masdjid Azaam à Qom en Iran). La cérémonie de l''ouverture de la Bibliothèque ABMA a été officiellement célébrée le 13 avril 1961 par son fils Mohammad Hosein Borujerdi. L’Ayatollah a donné l’ordre de l’accès du à public à la bibliothèque. La Bibliothèque ABMA était dirigée par l''Ayatollah Danesh Ashtiani. Ayatollah Sayed Javad Alavi Boroudjerdi, son petit-fils, est actuellement le responsable de la Grande mosquée (Masjid Azaam), de la bibliothèque (La Bibliothèque ABMA) et d''autres centres appartenant au Grand Ayatollah Boroudjerdi. Sous l''égide de l’Ayatollah Sayed Javad Alavi Boroudjerdi, le bâtiment de la bibliothèque ABMA a été rénové et rouvert en 2009 et une partie distincte de la Bibliothèque ABMA a été consacrée à l’administration et à la salle de lecture pour les femmes. En 2011, la Bibliothèque ABMA a été reconnue comme un grand centre éminent qui offrait des services remarquables aux chercheurs et elle a été nommée la meilleure Bibliothèque sélectionnée et qualifiée par le Conseil académique du 13e colloque annuel de Hawzah. En 2002, la direction générale des bibliothèques publiques ou la Fondation des bibliothèques publiques a sélectionné la Bibliothèque ABMA comme la meilleure de la province de Qom. Par la suite, le Ministère de la Culture et de l''Orientation de la République Islamique d’Iran a nommé et apprécié cette bibliothèque pour fournir un service supérieur.
